/ After The Rain (10-26-23)

We heard the voices of children laughing

When we fell asleep that day

Your memories flooding the prairie

Coating the land in a soft gentle breeze.

Smiling laughing forever after

In that blink of an eye

Watching the leaves gently

Float into the grass below.

Light tucks inside

As the mist slowly coils

Fog blankets around our waists

Until there is nothing but white.

Shimmering bliss in our eyes

Water raised above our ankles

Oh, river,

Flow home to the sea.
